Performance & Handling
The 2012 Jeep Patriot comes available in three trim levels: Sport, Latitude and Limited. Additionally, each of these trims has the option of FWD or AWD configurations. The FWD drive models of both the base Sport trim and the Latitude trim come standard with a 2.0L DOHC I-4 engine with dual variable valve timing that provides 158 horsepower and 141 pound-feet of torque. Available to these models and standard with their AWD counterparts, as well as both Limited models, is an upgraded 2.4L DOHC I-4 engine with dual variable valve timing that provides 172 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque. Every Patriot trim comes standard with a 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive and offers the option to upgrade to an automatic two-speed CVT transmission with overdrive. All 2011 Patriot models offer similar fuel economy with the FWD Sport and Latitude trims sporting 23 city/29 highway MPG, while every AWD trim gives 22 city/28 highway MPG.
Similar to the Jeep Compass, 2012 Jeep Patriot AWD models come standard with the Freedom Drive I system, which reads the terrain being traveled and automatically adjusts when extra traction is needed. Also available is the Freedom Drive II for real off-road capabilities. The Freedom Drive II system offers upgraded performance to its counterpart and is recommended for drivers planning on true off-road driving.
Standard Features & Options
Standard with the 2012 Jeep Patriot are a variety of features and amenities. The 2012 Jeep Patriot offers cruise control, cargo lights, an adjustable steering column, cup holders, manual windows, 60-40 rear bench split, AM/FM radio with seek and scan, an in-dash mounted CD player, MP3 capability and auxiliary audio input. Each following trim steps things up with added standard features, including air conditioning with the AWD Sport. The FWD Latitude adds power heated fold-away mirrors, remote keyless entry, a 115-volt auxiliary power outlet, power windows with driver's one-touch-down feature, speed sensitive power locks and illuminated entry. The Limited line steps it up with a leather-wrapped park brake handle, air conditioning with automatic temperature control and an electronic vehicle information center. |
