New Diesel Powertrain Offers Stronger Output

The latest version of the Cummins® 6.7-liter High-Output Turbo Diesel engine is now available on the 2025 Ram 2500. This engine produces 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb.-ft. of torque. Alongside a structural redesign, the updated diesel engine integrates revised intake and exhaust port geometry, a higher-pressure fuel system, improved head and block architecture, and new turbo components. These updates result in greater thermal efficiency, improved low-end responsiveness, and more consistent torque availability across all gear ranges.
This diesel configuration is paired with the TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission. The system replaces the six-speed unit from prior generations and now features electronic column shifting. Gear spacing is optimized for low-speed torque access while allowing for reduced cruising rpm. The 2025 Ram 2500 diesel variant, when properly equipped, achieves a maximum towing capacity of 36,610 pounds using a 3.42 rear axle ratio, which was previously limited to configurations with a 4.10 ratio. This change provides better fuel usage without reducing pulling capability.

HEMI® V8 Still Delivers Reliable Output for Gas Preference

The standard gas engine remains the 6.4-liter HEMI® V8. This powertrain offers 405 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque. The TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission is also standard for this engine. Payload capacity for this configuration reaches 7,590 pounds.
Both engines benefit from a shared engine control system that adjusts transmission behavior based on real-time load conditions. The combination of engine and transmission refinements results in improved acceleration and lower quarter-mile times compared to previous model years. Testing has shown a time reduction from 8.0 to 6.9 seconds in the 0 to 60 mph range for diesel-equipped variants.

Exterior Revisions Add Functional and Structural Updates

The 2025 Ram 2500 receives exterior changes that contribute to visibility and durability. New grille designs vary by trim level and integrate with the updated headlamp architecture. Standard LED lighting is applied across the board, with higher trims gaining twin bi-functional projector lamps. Rear lighting follows a similar update, offering standard incandescent units or an optional LED package with integrated Blind-spot Monitoring.
The available RamBox® cargo system continues as a factory-installed bed-side storage feature. These lockable, illuminated, and drainable compartments include a 115-volt outlet and can be combined with a cargo divider and adjustable cleat rail system. This cargo setup is compatible with both the standard and extended bed lengths, depending on configuration. For additional utility, the 2025 Ram 2500 offers an on-board power inverter with two covered 110-volt outlets located in the bed.

Interior Displays Expanded With New Passenger and Driver Interfaces

The 2025 Ram 2500 introduces a revised Uconnect® 5 system with new screen options. Available center displays now include an upgraded 12-inch touchscreen and a new 14.5-inch reconfigurable display. Both use Full Array Local Dimming technology for improved contrast. A new 10.25-inch passenger screen is also available. This display supports navigation, device management, HDMI input, and live vehicle camera feeds. It is designed to be visible only to the front passenger and allows connected devices to mirror content directly to the screen.
System responsiveness is improved through a new Atlantis electrical architecture that increases data processing speeds and memory capacity. The upgraded interface responds to input in less than 0.05 seconds and supports multiple application views simultaneously. This includes system settings, trailer monitoring applications, and camera feeds.
Connectivity is further supported by dual wireless charging pads and a redesigned port layout that improves cable access and device recognition. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster displays up to two dozen vehicle systems, including real-time data from adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and drowsy driver detection.

Towing Assistance Features Designed for Precision Control

Towing capabilities are supported by a set of integrated systems that assist with trailer alignment, weight distribution, and reverse steering. The Trailer Reverse Steering Control feature uses a control dial located beneath the center screen. Drivers input trailer dimensions, and the system handles steering adjustments while the driver uses the dial to guide the trailer’s direction. The 360-degree camera suite includes a trailer reverse guidance view that merges left and right camera feeds into a single display, helping operators maintain trailer visibility during tight maneuvers.
An auxiliary camera can be installed at additional points around or behind the trailer. The digital rearview mirror offers an unobstructed live camera feed that is especially useful when the cabin’s rear visibility is blocked. This mirror can be toggled back to standard reflective mode using a switch at its base.
Power telescoping trailer tow mirrors extend outward to improve rearward sightlines when towing. Trailer-Tow Pages on the Uconnect® interface consolidate tire pressure monitoring, trailer brake status, light check functions, and auxiliary camera access into one centralized display. These tools reduce the need for multiple steps when checking trailer systems before departure.

Standard and Available Safety Systems Improve Monitoring and Response

New safety features are now included on multiple trims, with some becoming standard equipment. These include adaptive cruise control, Forward Collision Warning-Plus, ParkSense® front and rear park assist, Drowsy Driver Detection, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Active Lane Management. These systems use sensor fusion and steering input to monitor driver behavior, traffic conditions, and lane position. When necessary, corrections are applied to reduce the likelihood of lane departure or frontal collision.
Blind spot sensors are also used to assist with lane centering when lane keep assist is active. Alerts are delivered through visual and audio cues in the gauge cluster and side mirrors. Camera views can be accessed through the touchscreen system to provide real-time feedback, even at low speeds or when towing.

Trim Variants Provide Configurable Options for Different Roles

The 2025 Ram 2500 is offered in several configurations. Available trims include Tradesman®, Big Horn®, Laramie®, Rebel, Power Wagon®, Limited Longhorn®, and Limited. Each trim introduces different grille styles, lighting packages, wheel designs, interior materials, and available driver-assist features. Regardless of trim, all models now feature the TorqueFlite HD eight-speed transmission and the latest Uconnect® architecture.
